He has been missing since Monday. Oakland, Calif., police, now with the help of the FBI, are searching for Hassani Campbell, an African-American boy who was last seen Aug. 10 with his aunt's fiancÚ, according to ABC News' San Francisco affiliate KGO-TV. "We are confirming the FBI is involved in the search for the missing 5-year-old boy," FBI spokeswoman Patti Hansen said. Campbell, who has brown hair and brown eyes, was wearing a gray sweatshirt and gray pants when he was last seen with 38-year-old Louis Ross, a man police describe as his "caretaker." The leg braces Campbell has to wear are decorated with a Spiderman design, according to KGO. Campbell was reportedly seen Monday at around 4:15 p.m. sitting in Ross' BMW outside a shoe store, Shuz of Rockridge, where his aunt and foster parent, Jennifer Campbell, 33, is employed. Jennifer Campbell also cares for the 1-year-old sister of the missing boy. Courtesy Oakland Police Department Hassani Campbell, 5, has been missing since... View Full Caption Hassani Campbell, 5, has been missing since Monday afternoon when he was last seen in his foster fatherÔ??s car outside. Campbell has cerebral palsy and wears braces on his legs to help him move. CloseRoss told authorities at the time that he left Campbell alone in the car when he went to unlock the shoe store so that the child would be able to go inside more easily. He said the boy was gone when he returned, according to the Associated Press. Authorities do not believe that Campbell would be able to walk far on his own because of his disability. With the help of the FBI and a search warrant, authorities have been combing the Fremont, Calif., area for clues and have used search dogs to bolster the investigation. "We've devoted a significant amount of resources to finding this young child because it's very important to us that we locate him as soon as possible," Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan said at a news conference late Tuesday. Boy's Aunt Is 'Devoted Caregiver' Asked whether there were any leads suggested Campbell has been hurt, Jordan said that authorities, so far, have no "specific facts" that lead them to believe the boy is harmed, but would not discount it as a "possibility," according to KGO. Jordan did not immediately return messages left by ABCNews.com today seeking an update on the progress of the investigation. John Riker, the man who owns the shoe store where the young boy's foster parent works, described Jennifer Campbell as a "devoted caregiver," according to KGO. An employee who answered the phone at the shoe store today declined to speak to ABCNews.com. Pamela Clark, the grandmother of the missing boy, told the San Francisco Chronicle that she's anxious anxious fort her grandson's safe return. "I would like my grandson back," Clark told the paper. "I just hope this works out. Clark said that she did not think the family is involved in Campbell's disappearance "at all," according to the paper. Hassani's godmother, Regina Douglas, told the paper that she did not think Ross or Campbell were behind the boy's disappearance. "If I knew what happened to Hassani, we wouldn't be having this conversation," Douglas told the paper. Douglas described Hassani as a "very gentle, mild and loving boy." The story begins in 2002, when Reachelle's mother, a teenager who didn't feel ready to care for a baby, gave custody of Raechelle to her sister, Stephanie. Stephanie was the one who raised Raechelle for the next three years... until the night of May 16, 2006. Stephanie apparently had a roommate, Leigh Cowan, a man who had known Reachelle all her life. In fact, Leigh usually claimed that Reachelle was his daughter, and had even convinced his own mother that Reachelle was his. (After Reachelle went missing, DNA tests proved that Leigh was not actually Reachelle's father.) Leigh had recently been charged with theft, and was on probation. He had missed a meeting with his probation officer, and knew that there was a warrant out for his arrest, and that he could face up to eighteen months in prison if he was caught. He had even taken pictures of Reachelle, so that he could bring the pictures with him when he went to prison. When Stephanie woke up on May 17 and saw that Reachelle was not in the house, Leigh told her that his mother, who lived near by, had come and picked up the child to stay with her for a few days. Stephanie didn't find this surprising. After all, Leigh thought of himself as Reachelle's father, and Leigh's mother believed herself to be Reachelle's grandmother. Days passed. Stephanie began to ask Leigh how long his mother was planning to keep Reachelle for. She began to suggest that it was time for the three-year-old to be brought home. Leigh had various excuses, including that his mother's car had broken down and so she was unable to bring Reachelle home, that his mother and Reachelle were going off on some activity that day, etc. On one of the days, Leigh's mother actually came to Stephanie's house. When Stephanie asked her where Reachelle was, Leigh's mother looked at her strangely, and seemed confused by the question. Leigh asked to speak privately with his mother. Unbeknownst to Stephanie, Leigh told his mother that he was covering for Reachelle's birth mother, Samantha, who he said had taken Reachelle to South Dakota. (That turned out to not be true!) On the 22nd, Stephanie woke up to find that her van was missing, and Leigh was gone as well. Stephanie went to where Leigh's mother lived, hoping to find Leigh, the missing van, and Reachelle, there. But instead, she found that Leigh's mother had actually moved away the week before. Stephanie then called the police, and reported Reachelle as missing. It was believed that Leigh had taken Reachelle, and perhaps was traveling with the child, in the stolen van, to where some of his relatives lived. But then, in a bizarre twist of events, Leigh was found dead. Aparently he had driven the van to a near by wildlife refuge, and committed suicide. Reachelle was still no where to be found. Since then, word about her disappearance has been passed around the Internet... and for a while, people believed that her story was an urban legend and that Reachelle Smith didn't really exist. (Although why someone would make up a missing child case and pass it around the Internet is beyond me... but apparently it does happen!) Do a search on Reachelle's name on the Internet, and you will find all sorts of message boards where arm-chair detectives have posted their thoughts about Reachelle's family. Most seem to think that Leigh was responsible for Reachelle's disappearance, and that he committed suicide either out of guilt, or to cover something up. Others have criticized Reachelle's aunt for not calling the police sooner, and for letting a "strange man" spend time with Reachelle. Some have suggested that Stephanie or Samantha had something to do with the disappearance. When making these assumptions, people often point out Reachelle's unusual living situation as a reason. But I've lived a pretty unusual life myself, and I can tell you from experience that people are different everywhere. It is not so unusual for a young mother to give custody of her baby to her sister or another relative. It is not so unusual for there to be more than one possibility about who a child's father is... and it is not so unusual for one person, who really wants to be father, to latch on to the idea that he really is. It is not even so unusual for a parent to not immediately call the police when one family member tells her that another family member has taken the child for a visit for a while. What is unusual is for a three-year-old to vanish without a trace... and that is what we should all concentrate on... finding Reachelle. her "missing child" poster here. https://www.facebook.com/notes/missing-3-year-old-girl-please-help-find-her-/monday-may-28-2007-missing-child-reachelle-smith/10150961335138263 If you have any information call Minot Police Dept. 701-852-0111 or 911 https://amc-alertmissingchild.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=124068290 124068290 RAYLENE HELSLEY Jan 5, 1983 RUSTON,LA . Police officials say they were first called out to the 26-hundred block of Savannah Hill Circle (which sits off of Klein Road, on the east side of I-35) just before 9 o?clock last night after the mother of the 18-month old boy reported him missing. She had last seen him inside their residence about 20-minutes prior to calling police, and responding officers searched the home multiple times, then added a grid search of the entire neighborhood, with no luck finding the toddler. So a DPS helicopter was called in to search by air, while 24-hundred residents in the surrounding area were notified of the incident through the city?s Emergency Notification System. Dozens of neighbors then poured into the streets, helping New Braunfels Police and Guadalupe County Sheriff?s Officers look for the young boy, but to no avail. The 18-month old remains missing. A photo of the boy and his description has been released. His name is Joshua Davis, 18-months old, 2-feet tall, weighing 30-pounds, last seen wearing a blue and red long sleeve shirt and a grey long sleeve t-shirt, a beige and white onesy and beige jeans, and black and white socks. Shannon was last seen Oct. 5, 1986, in a disappearance case that leaped back into the public's view in July 2003, when a Kansas woman faked being the girl before the Sherrill family's hopes were crushed within days by the hoax. Even two decades later, her family can't forget the 6-year-old they knew. "You still think she's small. Still think she's 6 instead of 26," Jody Ames, Shannon's aunt, told the Kokomo Tribune for a story Thursday. "Like if we saw her today, we'd still think we'd see her as she was." Shannon's father, Mike Sherrill, continues to look for answers and hope for a miracle. "Right now, they haven't proved she isn't here. I go on believing she's out there somewhere," he said. He was playing in a dirt pile or sandbox in his front yard when he disappeared. Chapman has never been heard from again. Authorities originally believed he wandered away and became lost; however, they now believe this is unlikely since he was never located. Police tracker dogs traced his scent through a field, past an apple orchard onto a farm, and down the driveway to the main road. The scent apparently stopped there; Chapman's father believes he have been placed in a vehicle at that location. His case is unsolved. The third-grader was going to bowl with friends, then walk directly across the street to the local high school for soccer practice. Sandy gave Stephanie money for a snack, smiled and told her to be home by 5 p.m. Two hours later, Stephanie had not come home, and Sandy sensed something was wrong. She jumped into her red Ford Bronco and went looking for her daughter. At 8:15 p.m. she walked into the Custer County Sheriff's Department and reported her daughter missing. The sheriff's department immediately organized a search of the area. Officers and volunteers quickly organized and combed the area, searching for Stephanie until 1 a.m. They resumed a mere six hours later with even more volunteers. "The community really came together; we all put in extra time," said Linda Dubiel of the Custer County Sheriff's Department. Members of the volunteer fire department, search and rescue, Idaho State Police, the FBI and search dogs all contributed to the search. Witnesses spotted Stephanie on the sidewalk of Highway 93 next to the high school. No evidence of a struggle was ever found. After extensive daily searches for Stephanie, local law enforcement came up with very few clues -- it seemed as though the 9-year-old had simply vanished. As the hours ticked away and turned into days, there would be no signs of young Stephanie Crane. Police, Family Keep Hope Alive For Stephanie Since Stephanie went missing, police have named several persons of interest in her case, but no suspect has even been charged. Despite having no solid leads, the Challis community has been tremendously supportive over the years. People throughout the area frequently wear purple ribbons, Stephanie's favorite color, in honor of the little girl that touched so many hearts. Stephanie's younger sister Jessica was only 4 years old when Stephanie disappeared. Now grown up and about to go off to college, Jessica has not stopped looking for her sister. She combs missing persons Web sites, searching for clues about Stephanie. "Nobody in my family has given up hope,? Jessica said. Linda Dubiel strongly believes there is still someone out there that holds the key to Stephanie's disappearance. "I don't want anyone to forget that we still have this little girl missing,? she said. Peter Sr.'s relatives said that they never heard of Makuakane prior to 1997. Peter Jr.'s maternal grandparents, the Acols, had taken care of him starting in 1991 when he was 3 months old; he was removed from his parents' home then because he had a broken leg. The Acols wanted to keep him, but were overruled by the state, which returned him to the Kemas in 1995. The Acols last saw their grandson in late 1996. The child's parents, Jaylin and Peter Kema Sr., who live in Hilo, were never named as suspects and have denied harming their son. Neither is cooperating with police. Peter Jr.'s siblings have been removed from the Kema home due to allegations of abuse and neglect. The following was first published in the Fort Jackson Leader on May 29 and later provided to the media in a press release: By Susanne Kappler What started out as an ordinary spring Sunday on Fort Jackson ended up as a day shrouded in mystery that still occupies hearts and minds 42 years later. On April 23, 1972, Maj. Joe Woodward, then the staff judge advocate on post, was mowing the grass outside his home in the officers' housing area. His 9-year-old son, Michael, was playing outside nearby. At some point, just before noon, Michael disappeared without a trace. The case of the missing boy attracted widespread media attention, but despite the efforts of local and national law enforcement agencies, Michael was never found and the case went cold. Forty-two years after Michael's disappearance, the case is open again because of the perseverance of two former investigators and the insistence of Patrick O'Connor, deputy director for emergency services. O'Connor said he first came across the case after hearing about it from the former case investigator and another former law enforcement officer who is volunteering to review cold cases with the Richland County Sheriff's Department. "I started reviewing the case file on my own and working with the former investigator and ... the cold case investigator and just started building theories. And we've done a few things along the way," O'Connor said. After five years of reviewing the file in his spare time, O'Connor received permission from Fort Jackson commanders to reopen the case, which allowed him to enlist the help of Military Police Investigator Carlos Monday. O'Connor was able to get the case listed on the National Crime Information Center database and with the National Center for Exploited and Missing Children, which means that the case is visible to law enforcement agencies across the nation. Michael's parents are no longer alive, but investigators have been working with other family members who remain hopeful about getting closure. "Investigator Monday and I went to Greer, South Carolina, where Michael's uncle currently lives, and took a DNA sample from his uncle," O'Connor said. "Then the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children coordinated with the sister, who lives in Texas and did some DNA testing with her. So now there's a DNA profile in the system. So, if we ever find any remains or a person who we think might be Michael, we could test that." O'Connor said that, to his knowledge, Michael is the only missing person in the history of Fort Jackson. He said he hopes that people who were on or near Fort Jackson at the time still remember the case. "It was a pretty significant event, even though the amber alert system didn't exist back then," O'Connor said. "But for the installation it was a pretty significant event." After the boy was reported missing, a massive search was conducted. The search party included more than 400 Soldiers; volunteers on horseback, on motorcycles and in jeeps; and three helicopters from the 498th Medical Unit and the Fort Jackson Aviation Division. "(The case) stays on my mind. Almost every day I'm thinking about it," O'Connor said. "I still want to get (the information about the case) out there and see who can help us or if there's anybody (with information) ? somebody's mother told a story or somebody's uncle passed the story on or even somebody who's still alive who used to work here or went to school with Michael." Monday said he hopes the popularity of TV shows about cold cases might revive the public's interest in the case. "(Because of) TV and modern television shows some of these cold case files are very intriguing. The public has an interest in them that maybe wasn't there 20 years ago," Monday said. He said he encourages everyone with any information about the case to come forward. Tips may be submitted anonymously. "Just one phone call could change everything," Monday said. "No matter how insignificant (people) think something might be that they know about it, it's not insignificant to us for solving the case." -- According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Michael was wearing brown striped pants and blue tennis shoes. He also sustained an injury which may have left him blind in his left eye. The store was two blocks from Garecht's home. Garecht noticed that her friend's scooter had been moved in the parking lot when the girls exited the store; when she went to retrieve it, an unidentified Caucasian male grabbed her and forced her into his vehicle. Garecht's friend went inside the Rainbow Market for assistance, but the abductor was able to escape with Garecht. Neither has been seen again. The abductor is described as between 18 to 24 years old in 1988, with a pockmarked or pimpled face. He wore a white t-shirt and had longish dirty blonde hair and a slender build. Two sketches of Garecht's abductor are posted below this case summary; the original sketch was later revised. The abductor drove a large older model American-made sedan. It was possibly a four-door vehicle and was cream, gold, or tan in color. The car may have had cement splatters on the sides and lights set into the rear bumper. The front bumper was battered; the vehicle may have previously been in an accident. It appeared to be run-down. The car was last seen speeding south on Mission Boulevard towards nearby Union City, California with Garecht inside. Even at 13 years old, it was not uncommon for her to sleep at the foot of her parent's bed. On the morning of April 29, 2003 Tabitha's father found her there, woke her up and sent her off to school. He then left for work. Just before 8:00, Tabitha began her walk from her home to the bus stop to catch the school bus, which was to arrive just after 8. The bus stop is a few blocks away at the bottom of a long, wide hill. The bus makes two stops on that hill each day, but on this day, Tabitha was at neither of them. She never got on the bus. She never got to school. And no one has seen or heard from her since. A neighbor saw Tabitha headed to the bus stop, but the bus driver says he didn't see her. Police believe Tabitha may have disappeared in the couple of blocks between her home and the school bus stop. The dogs tracked Tabitha's scent to a nearby alley, a place her friends say she never went on her own. Cops were stumped until they heard the story of a neighborhood boy. He told them he had seen Tabitha get into a red car 30 to 40 yards from the bus stop. Once Tabitha was inside, the boy said, the car reversed course and headed up the hill. Police aren't sure whether to believe this witness, but they cling to any evidence they can get. The news spread quickly among neighbors in the Raleigh apartment complex where Lauryn and her mother lived. ?She's a cute baby, she doesn't need to be missing,? said Kathey Smith, who said her sister told her about the missing child. ?This sounds suspicious. It?s kind of far-fetched.? Police said Lauryn?s mother said the child was last seen with a white female between 40 and 50 years old. The mother claimed the woman had gray, shoulder-length hair, and wore glasses along with a white blouse and khaki pants and sandals. While investigators try to figure out what's true, neighbors do the same. ?If that was my baby I'd do everything I could trying to find it,? Smith said. Jennifer resided with her boyfriend and his family. She had voiced her concerns about her living situation with her mother in the days previous to her and Adrianna?s disappearances. Her boyfriend told the family that he and Jenn had argued on the Thursday evening and that he took her to the interstate exit nearby, (I-65 N exit 112). He also said that she asked him to leave but he decided to pull across the street and make sure she was meeting someone. She waited for five or ten minutes and then got into the backseat of a white, four-door car. He was very vague in the description of the automobile and said he did not see the person in the car or which direction they went. His statement is that Jennifer returned to his home on Friday afternoon, without Adrianna, driving the car she had gotten into the night before, for her income tax return that was to be in that day. His parents were not home to give her the money, so she left and said she would return on Saturday to get it. She has not returned for it. On Saturday, March 27, 2004, when she did not return, her parents reported Jennifer and Adrianna missing. Jennifer has no car, no money, and did not take any clothes or personal items with her. There is an open police investigation and the detectives do not suspect foul play. He went to play with four neighborhood friends during the late afternoon hours of December 27, 1928. . Melvin has a burn scar on hip He was wearing checked sweater, a brown coat and a cap; he was also carrying a red toy truck he received as a recent holiday gift. His friends said that they played in a vacant lot off of Chestnut Street near the railroad tracks. The boys told authorities that Melvin announced it was late and he had to walk home sometime during the evening hours. He was approximately one block from his family's house at the time. Melvin never arrived and has not been heard from again. Melvin's disappearance made nationwide headlines and the media followed his story closely at the time. He vanished during the United States' Prohibition era and a bootlegger and his son were arrested for Melvin's alleged abduction in 1929, one year after he was last seen. A friend of the accused parties told investigators that he saw them lure Melvin into their home on the day he disappeared. The family lived around the corner from the Horsts at the time. The bootlegger and his son were convicted of Melvin's abduction and spent three months in jail before authorities learned that their witness lied about the events. The men were found innocent of involvement in Melvin's case during a second trial shortly thereafter. The witness who claimed the bootlegger and his son were responsible for Melvin's disappearance was subsequently arrested along with his own father in 1930. Both men confessed that they murdered Melvin inside of a garage after he caught them drinking whiskey. Neither of the suspects admitted being the actual murderer and it was later determined that their confessions were coerced by law enforcement officers. There have been no arrests in Horst's case since 1930. Muscular build and he has O positive blood. About 8:30pm he entered his room after returning from a road engagement with the Campus Owls, a dance band for which he played string bass. Outside sat his 1938 Chevrolet sedan. It was reported that he heard something that disturbed him, and he went into the hall to investigate. He left his wallet, car keys and personal items on his desk. He also left the lights on, a book open, the radio playing and his clothes in the closet. His bank account, with about $200, remained active. Authorities checked all bus, rail and air terminals. The Air Force ROTC sent 400 men to help students search the countryside. Friends and family, from Maple Heights, near Cleveland, said Mr. Tammen wouldn't leave without telling them. At first, police developed an amnesia theory, but later they did consider that he might have deliberately disappeared. Later that night Mrs. Carl Spivey in Seven Mile, about 15 miles east of Oxford, heard a knock on her door. She saw a young man -- who fit Tammen's description -- standing outside. When she opened the door, he asked her how to get to the bus station. As there was no bus station in Seven Mile, she told him to go to Hamilton. She noticed he had a smudge of dirt on a cheek and his eyes were vacuous. Snow was on the ground that night, but he wore no coat or hat. She shut the door and expected to hear his car start, but it didn't. Then she realized the young man was walking. There's every belief he was Ronald Tammen. The supposition is that he had an attack of amnesia. Eyes-Brown, Hair, Brown, White Male. His car was found in a ditch, idling with the lights on. His coat and some change still inside. Moncer, who was known for never being without his cigarettes, had left them behind. The car interior was muddy with signs of a struggle. At the time he was in the midst of a divorce and working three jobs. He had earlier received a note in his mailbox, made with letters cut out of a magazine. It read, "You are dead." His family says he shrugged it off and threw it away. Three people swore that they saw Leon in the months that followed. His wife said she and her daughter were followed for six months by a man in a truck. And for two years, a man would stand outside her house, in the shadows. At the time the wife thought it may be Leon, wanting to see his three year old daughter. The wife also received anonymous calls, one telling her what had happened to Leon's body. The caller said that Leon's head was in a garbage bag in the river, his arms and legs out in the strip pits. Leon Moncer was later declared dead. The case file on the Leon Moncer disappearance was lost years ago during a previous sheriff's administration. But after an intensive search of an storage building, the file was found and reopened in November 2007. Hair-Brown, White Male. He had rented a 1974 Piper Cherokee Arrow for a short trip to Jackson, Michigan, where he planned to take a test to become a flight instructor. Hysong was an accomplished pilot. Investigators have two main theories about what happened that day: either Hysong decided to commit suicide for some unknown reason by crashing the airplane into Lake Michigan, or he stole the aircraft with the intention of selling it. According to Federal Aviation Administration radar logs, a plane piloted by Hysong took off from Toledo Suburban about 10:15 a.m. and climbed to an altitude of 4,800 feet as it headed northwest. But the plane bypassed Jackson Airport to the east by several miles. The plane continued past Grand Rapids and Grand Haven and went about 15 miles out over Lake Michigan before disappearing about 83 minutes after the flight began. Volunteer pilots from the Michigan Chapter of the Civil Air Patrol searched from the air for wreckage of the plane for six weeks, first on land and then on water. Nothing was ever located. Every part of the $40,000 airplane was listed as stolen and entered on the national databases of the Law Enforcement Information Network and the National Crime Information Center in July, 1994. Since then not a single piece of the aircraft has turned up. On four different occasions, the Federal Aviation Administration reported instances of pilots around the country using the identifying tail number of the missing aircraft - N15206 -, either during radio weather checks or purchasing fuel. None of the FAA investigations into the four reports resulted in any hard evidence or even eyewitness accounts of an aircraft with that tail number. The tail number remains on the FAA's list of missing or stolen aircraft. Eyes-Blue, Hair-Brown, White Male..
