AURORA, Ind. -- A boy missing since Sunday morning has been found dead.
Aurora police said John Burton Jr., 7, was found dead in Hogan Creek early Monday by Indiana wildlife officers. The boy's body was found near the Aurora City Park.
Burton, who is autistic, had reportedly wandered away from his family's home just before noon Sunday.
Authorities and volunteers searched for Burton until dark, whereupon a helicopter with a thermal-imaging camera overflew the area to look for the boy.

Searchers resumed their work at about 8 a.m. Monday, but were called back to the command post about an hour later.
Aurora Police Chief Bryan Fields said he got about an hour to rest since Burton went missing, but he didn't get much rest.
"I couldn't sleep because my heart was breaking," Fields said. "This has been very taxing emotionally for everyone involved."
"I can't imagine what the family is going through, and my heart breaks for them right now," he said.
Burton's body was taken to the coroner's office for examination. Fields said there's no indication that the boy's death was anything other than a tragic accident.
